This is the project i am currently working on.
My employer, the German Archaeological Institute is hosting a series of series of Geodata services which use basemaps from public tile server, mostly OSM.
The institutes Website relies on the commercial service provided by Mapbox. Due to recent changes in their billing models the Institute is now operating outside the free tier and is suddenly very motivated to find an alternative solution.
Setting up a private tile server appears relatively straight-forward but i suspect more things could go wrong than i could even imagine. I will coordinate with the Institutes IT department and find a Backend Admin to assist me with that.
